The Darkness

Everything you know in your entire world, can be changed in less than a second.
Your whole world can disappear quicker than the subconscious reflex reaction of being burned,
And within that moment every drop of your blood is sucked from your head
through your feet and vanquished into another form of energy. You're drained.
Your heart stops its rhythmic beating for what seems like an eternity
then finally jump starts, pumping at a speed equivalent to a sprinter's racing pulse.

Your body and skin suddenly defrost from its icy-cold state of blood drainage
into flushed, red-hot sweats, as fear begins it's trance inducing dance in your mind.
Acid and bile stir swiftly in your stomach, chunks bloom and rise in your gullet
And hot fresh saliva lubricates the lining of your mouth, whilst
In contrast to your fading vision and the sensation of sinking into your self
The brain rushes ten thousand horrific scenarios across your minds eye.

To feel, in that tiny second that may change your life forever, that maybe
The one you love unconditionally may be harmed, dying, willing you to rescue them or worse
Is the single most un-empowering yet powerful, out-of-control yet controlling,
Super-slow-motion yet over-in-an-instant experience, a person can feel
In their entire Human and Spiritual existence, That moment when the light inside you
Is sucked out and we are left alone in the darkness, within the vacuum of our own inner space.
